Saxophonist Troy Roberts and guitarist Tim Jago found productive use of their time in quarantine in their home country of Australia after leaving the New York scene for a bit. They spent the time writing and recording the material that comprises this release Best Buddies. They invited familiar talents of longtime friends and countrymen Karl Florisson and drummer Ben Vanderwal to join in their creative sessions which greatly benefits this production. The tunes here are primarily wonderfully crafted originals from the two players and with one credited to the entire unit. In addition to solid musicianship, the quartet has an easy chemistry that comes across in each tune’s performance making for an outstanding collection of music.
