Drummer, composer and producer Reggie Quinerly is back with another outstanding effort. The Thousandth Scholar, his fifth recording, is released on his own Redefinition Music. The Latin-flavored production demonstrates the Afro-Caribbean side of Quinerly’s musical persona. The set is a collection of original compositions by the leader and other members of the band that deliver quality and great performances. Aiding in this effort are the talents of pianist Manuel Valera, bassist Matt Brewer, and percussionist Samuel Torres. The result of it all is a truly fantastic recording.
