For many, You Showed Me The Way may be an introduction to vocalist, pianist, and composer Cliff Beach, but the Washington DC-born musician has been making and recording his music for well over a decade. The time has served his recording of primarily jazz standards quite well. Beach, who steps out of the keyboard chair to handle vocal duties exclusively on this project, delivers wonderful performances of the album’s 13-track set. The production also benefits tremendously from its outstanding arrangements and musicianship, which includes Munenori “Moon” Kishi on keys, Evan Mackey on trombone, Andy Moresi on guitar, Satoshi Kirisawa on drums, Sam Williams on tenor sax, Leah Concialdi on baritone and alto saxes, Ruben Salinas on baritone sax and Joe Ferruzzo on trumpet. A fantastic effort by all involved.
