With Nu-Jive Nations United, saxophonist Troy Roberts continues to solidify his reputation for producing some of the best forward-thinking and engaging music in the modern jazz world. Roberts’ writing on this effort is adventurous and thoughtful, with a 10-track set featuring hard-grooving and winding intricate numbers. The performances of the material by all involved measure up admirably to the quality of the music and arrangements. The quintet includes the talents of guitarist Tim Jago, bassist Eric England, keyboardist Silvano Monasterios and drummer David Chiverton. Another outstanding recording from Mr. Roberts.
