Not Quite Yet is the excellent second release from Chicago-based singer, Paul Marinaro. The recording, which comes a decade after his debut effort, does not suffer for the time it took to emerge on the scene. The production features wonderful vocals and fresh arrangements of outstanding standards on this effort, the latter provided by guitarist Mike Allemana. The band here also includes the talents of Tom Vaitsas on piano, John Tate on bass George Fludas on drums. The fantastic horn section includes Greg Ward and Chris Madsen on alto and tenor saxophones respectively, Marques Carroll on trumpet, Raphael Crawford on trombone, Rajiv Halim on clarinet, and Jim Gailloreto on flute. The equally wonderful Kaia string quarter is comprised of Victoria Moreira on violin, Naomi Culp and Amanda Grimm on viola, and Hope DeCelle on cello. Singers Alyssa Allgood and Sarah Marie Young provide quality backing vocals on a tune as well. A thoroughly entertaining effort by Marinaro and company is offered here.
