At 84 years young, singer Masumi Ormandy recently returned to New York City resulting in the production of Beyond The Sea, the singer’s fantastic fifth album release. Brilliantly produced by fellow vocalist Roseanna Vitro, with wonderful arrangements by pianist Allen Farnham, Ormandy shines on this effort, delivering the vocals with subtlety and grace. The musical set is a nice selection of standards with outstanding musicianship by Farnham, Dean Johnson on bass, and Tim Horner on drums as well as excellent guest performances from Houston Person, Sara Caswell, Bria Skonberg, John Allred, Tim Ries, Mino Cinelu, Jody Redhage Ferber. The recording also includes a couple of nice duets with Vitro and Danny Bacher on this fantastically entertaining outing by Ms. Ormandy.
