Then Again from the Henry Robinett is a substantive follow-up to his previous recording. This effort finds the guitarist and his quartet taking on a new menu of tunes made famous by some jazz luminaries. The set includes tunes by Jimmy Green, Cole Porter, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Jimmy Van Heusen, and Johnny Mercer among others. Robinett’s bright sound permeates each of the selections in spirited interplay with his fellow musicians, who are pianist Joe Gilman, bassist Chris Symer, and drummer Michael Stephans. The production features wonderful arrangements and performances by all involved. A simply wonderful recording.
