Ella & The Boss Beat is a cool father-daughter band founded by singer, pianist and bassist Ella Bourges and drummer/percussionist Magrus Bourges. Their band’s sound on In The Moment is a blend of jazz, soul and Brazilian pop (Magrus was born in Brazil. Ella was born in Miami and raised in her father’s home country). The recording is a collection of 10 original compositions brimming with rich, transportive harmonies, sung wonderfully in English and Portuguese, backed by outstanding musicianship. In addition to the Bourges on their respective instruments, other talents on the effort include Rodrigo Sha and Alain Bradette on saxophone, Jonathan Dills on cello, Kim Freitas on acoustic guitar, Greg Little on trumpet, Ruvit Bracho on violin, and Larry Williams on trumpet.
