The Mason Brothers, from Norwich England, have individually proven that they have what it takes to make it in the jazz world. Both musicians attended the Berklee School of Music and each has played with a cross-section of notable artists. Trumpeter Brad Mason’s resumé includes work with The Mingus Big Band, Chico O’Farrell, Joe Zawinul, and Dave Liebman among many others, while trombonist Elliot has played with Shirley Bassey, Chris Potter, Mike Stern and with Wynton Marsalis in the Jazz At Lincoln Center band, among others on his list. On their new cd, they combine their talents for a recording that is thoroughly enjoyable. The eight-selection project is comprised of engaging original compositions, all written or co-written by one or both of the brothers. Their outstanding work is augmented by stellar talents like saxophonist Chris Potter, vibraphonist Joe Lock, drummer Antionio Sanchez and pianist David Kikoski.
