Stracci by pianist/composer Michael Ragonese is a fantastic second act. The follow-up to his debut production is a wonderful blend of jazz standards and the musician’s own compositions paying homage to his Italian and American heritage. The tunes all fit together nicely and Ragonese delivers the collection of tunes with wonderful artistry and touch. He’s assisted ably by the outstanding contributions of Luca Alemanno on bass and Mark Ferber on drums. The three players sound great together and elevate each of the selections, all of which were nicely arranged by Ragonese. A truly excellent work from beginning to end.
