(Mark Meadows)

Somethin’ Good from pianist/vocalist Mark Meadows establishes the D.C. native as an outstanding talent to watch and listen for. His debut recording is a nice mix of styles, all connected by his playing, writing and/or arranging talents. The music has a freshness about it, even as he covers standards and contemporary pop tunes. The lyrical style of his original compositions is as entertaining as the covers. Meadows also has vocal skills that have an appeal beyond the more traditional jazz bounds. The Maryland-based performer surrounds himself with a stellar cast on this effort, including Paul Bollenback on guitar, Warren Wolf on vibraphone, Brent Birckhead on sax, Eric Wheeler on bass and Eric Kennedy on drums. The project also features vocalists Christie Dashiell and Lena Seikaly on several tunes. This is a terrific recording launch for an extremely talented artist.
