Guitarist Ed Cherry, a veteran sideman with Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Smith and Henry Threadgill, among others is back with his first recording as a leader since 2001. It’s All Good makes the case that Cherry is in top form, leading an excellent trio that includes Pat Bianchi on organ and Byron Landham on drums. The project is comprised of adventurous arrangements of tunes by jazz greats like Duke Ellington, Kenny Burrell, Bill Evans and Wayne Shorter, among others. Cherry possesses a rich, warm sound and virtuosity that comes with years of honing. The musical magic that he and bandmates create on this project is something that any true fan of great performances must hear.
