Drummer-composer Towner Galaher’s fifth release, Brothers, reunites him with his musical roots from Portland, Oregon, alongside longtime collaborators organist Jimmy Sanders and bassist Randy Monroe. The ensemble is further enriched by the contributions of tenor saxophonist Craig Handy and guitarist Marvin Horne, both esteemed figures in the New York jazz scene. The album features eight original compositions penned by Galaher and Sanders, showcasing a dynamic fusion of jazz and funk that harkens back to the vibrant sounds of the 1970s. With tight, energetic rhythms and fantastic solos, the whole production radiates creativity, passion, and camaraderie.
