AftEarth by guitarist Ryan Meagher is a special work of art and music. The recording is accompanied by a 62-page book of works by pen-and-ink artist Tina Granzo that reflects the spirit of the songs. Conversely, Meagher drew inspiration from Granzo’s drawings which were further influenced by hearing more of Meagher’s tunes for the project. It’s an outstanding concept and collaboration. The tracks match the adventurous spirit of the artwork. The tunes are an outstanding showcase of original music and adept performances by Meagher and fellow musicians on the effort. The talented quartet includes saxophonist Tim Wilcox, bassist Andrew Jones, and drummer Charlie Doggett. A really well-done production all around.
