Pacific Standard Time is truly a spectacular pairing of a great singer, in Tony Lindsay, with a truly fantastic band, that being the Michael O’Neill Quintet. The unit takes on a cross-section of the great American songbook, and more, in outstanding fashion. The arrangements and performances of the tunes are on point and every song on the album is an absolute winner. Lindsay’s outstanding vocal genius is wonderfully complemented by the stellar musicianship of the band, the core of which includes O’Neill on tenor sax and other wind instruments, John Burr on piano, Alan Hall on drums and Dan Feszli on acoustic and electric basses. There are also tremendous contributions from trumpet and flugelhorn players Erik Jekabson and Mike Olmos, as well as percussionist Omar Ledezma. A virtually perfect record.
