Singer Lizzie Thomas’ 4th album New Sounds From The Jazz Age is a wonderful homage to some classic tunes. Thomas delivers fantastic renditions of timeless compositions by Ray Noble, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Cole Porter, among others. The arrangements provided by the production’s pianist John Colianni, creatively provide Thomas some refreshing angles into each song. In addition to Colianni, Thomas is joined by a solid lineup of musicians that includes Jay Leonhart and Boots Maleson on bass, Russell Malone and Matt Chertkoff on guitars, Omar Daniels on tenor sax and flute, Felix Peikl on clarinet, Bernard Linette on drums and Doug Hendrich on percussion. A really nice recording by all involved.
