Singer Lauren White presents an eclectic musical brew on Life In The Modern World. White moves deftly between classic jazz standards and modern pop fare with grace and ease. The recording, produced by Mark Winkler with arrangements by pianist Quinn Johnson, consists of compositions by Ivan Lins, Lionel Hampton, Paul Simon, Hoagy Carmichael and Michael Franks, among many others. The production is aided by outstanding musicianship from Johnson, bassists Kevin Axt and David Finck, drummers Marvin “Smitty” Smith, Kevin Winard and Chris Wabich, saxophonist Alex Budman and flutist David Mann among others. White’s steadiness and delivery through the assorted mix provides for a very entertaining and lovely result.
