When We Were Young from singer Kelley Suttenfield is an impressive and enjoyable tribute to the awesome catalog of Neil Young. Creative arrangements of the songs provide Suttenfield fantastic in-roads to Young’s work, with the singer delivering some warm and engaging performances of the material. Providing the musical foundation for this effort are guitarist Tosh Sheridan, who also produced, arranged and provided backing vocals on the project. Matthew Fries is featured on piano and Fender Rhodes, Phil Palombi played bass, Eric Halvorson is heard on drums and percussion and The Meming Ensemble String Trio provides lush string accompaniment on a number of tunes as well. A fantastic recording by the singer.
