Kelley Johnson poses a sophisticated, well-honed voice and delivery that makes listening a true pleasure. Something Good, the singer’s fifth recording, is a wonderful showcase of her talents vocally and as an arranger. Taking on numerous selections from the Great American Songbook, Johnson’s fantastic way with a song, which cannot be understated, is greatly enhanced by the crafting of the material. The clever re-imaginings of all of the tunes featured here were arranged or co-arranged by Johnson and John Hanson, pianist on the production. The outstanding musical lineup also includes Michael Glynn on bass, Kendrick Scott on drums and Jay Thomas on sax and trumpet. This is a truly stellar collection of voice and song.
