Singer Katerina Brown provides a wonderful debut with Mirror. The Russian-born chanteuse delivers vocals on this effort in a way that makes for truly pleasurable listening. The setlist of the recording is a mix of older and newer standards, with a couple of tunes in her native tongue added to the brew. The musicianship on the production is first-rate, courtesy of bassist and producer Gary Brown, pianist Adam Shulman, violinist Mads Tolling, drummers Akira Tana and Timothy Angulo, organist Brian Ho, trumpeter Miles Olmos, saxophonist Robert Roth, guitarist Ricardo Peixoto and percussionists Celso Alberti and Airto Moreira. Singer Kenny Washington joins in for a really nice duet with Brown. This is a truly wonderful recording.
