With her second release, singer Jo Harrop truly dazzles. The Heart Wants is a fantastic set, primarily comprised of wonderful original tunes from the British-born singer. Harrop’s smoky contralto tone is mesmerizing on the many songs co-written with players who also perform on the recording, including guitarist Jamie McCreadie and pianist Hannah Vasanth. The production also features the talents of Paul Edis, Jason Rebell and Sam Watts on piano, Jihad Darwish and Dishan Abrahams on bass, Troy Miller and Peter Adam Hill on drums, Nicky Brown on Hammond B3 organ, Andy Davies and Joe Rodwell on trumpet and Tony Kofi on saxophone. Bass great Christian McBride guests on several selections and vocalist Marcus Bonfanti joins as well. This is an outstanding showcase of Harrop’s completely spectacular artistry.
