Ian Wardenski Quintet’s Collective Thoughts is an inventive and entertaining work. The nine tracks on the production, all composed by Wardenski, have an engaging contemporary sound that ranges from uptempo to more contemplative modes. In addition to Wardenski’s solid work on electric guitar, the project is aided nicely by the talents of Tim Powell on soprano and tenor saxophones, Jerry Ascione on piano, Amy Shook on bass and Frank Russo on drums. The accompanying vocals from singer Tamara Tucker on several tunes add to the colors of the album. A really enjoyable listen.
