Recorded live at New York City’s Jazz Gallery, the album has Alexander and a trio of bassist Doug Weiss and drummer Johnathan Blake taking the framework a song and building it out in a way that sounds, and feels, totally improvisational. Alexander’s big bold tone is captivating and lights the way through the eight-track set of his original tunes. Weiss and Blake provide the foundation that complements the horn’s massive presence so incredibly well.
