The Jazz Chamber is the fulfillment of one of singer Cathy Segal-Garcia’s dreams, recording with a chamber orchestra, something she was urged to pursue by Dan Davilla. The result is lush, lovely and inspirational. The 10-track set covers works by Ennio Morricone Vince Mendoza, Dori Caymmi and Bill Gables. Produced by Bevan Mason, who also arranged 5 of the albums tunes, with other arrangements by co-producer Dennis Dreith, and guitarist Dori Amarillo, the production is a collection of outstanding performances by the singer over lovely orchestration. Guest vocalists include Kate McGarry, Tierney Sutton, Mon David and the improvisational group Fish to Birds. Guests players include saxophonists Bob Sheppard and Bennie Maupin. This is a wonderful musical achievement.
