Soul Fingers from Bobby Broom & The Organi-sation is a truly soulful excursion. The Chicago-based guitarist and his bandmates, Hammond B3 organist Ben Patterson and drummer Kobie Watkins deliver some truly enjoyable renderings of classic popular songs. The eclectic set includes tunes written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder, among others. Producer Steve Jordan sits in on drums for a couple of tunes. Also joining the effort are Justin Thomas on vibraphone, Andrew Toombs on melodica, Sammy Figueroa and Filipe Fraga on percussion, Ron Blake on saxophones and Chris Rogers on trumpet and fluegelhorn, along with Sergio Pires and Luciano Antonio on acoustic guitars and the strings of the Matt Jones Orchestra. Broom’s delivery and the richness of his tone, interacting with all the other elements to produce this wonderful music, makes this one a real favorite.
