Bobby Broom’s Keyed Up is as outstanding as we’ve come to expect from the Chicago-based guitarist. Featured alongside Broom’s outstanding performances on 10-track set are the solid contributions of Justin Dillard on piano and Hammond SKX, Dennis Carroll on bass, and drummer Kobie Watkins, who co-produced the effort with Broom. The recording’s piano-based theme is reflected in the compositions by great piano talents like Mulgrew Miller, James Williams, Erroll Garner, McCoy Tyner, and Horace Silver. The production features fantastic arrangements and thoroughly enjoyable play and interplay by all of the artists involved. This one is well worth the price of admission.
