The Fine Line is a showcase for the fantastic talents of saxophonist Bob Sheppard. The new recording is a further demonstration of the depth of Sheppard’s artistic dexterity and depth. The musical set, a blend of gentle ballads and high energy swing, is weighted more towards original compositions than covers. It’s a production of great quality made possible by the talents of Sheppard and the quality playing of his bandmates. The core quartet is comprised of pianist John Beasley, bassist Jasper Somsen and drummer Kendrick Scott. There are also great guest contributions from Simon Woller on vibraphone, Mike Cottone on trumpet, Benjamin Sheperd on electric bass Aaron Safarty and Maria Puga Lareo on vocals.
