Changes is the glorious debut of singer Arianna Neikrug. The recording is aided by the genius of pianist/arranger Laurence Hobgood, known primarily for his longtime musical alliance with Kurt Elling. Neikrug aptly navigates the traverses of Hobgood inventive arrangements that seem tailor-made for the L.A. native, N.Y. – based vocalist. The diverse set list covers works written or co-written by Oscar Hammerstein, Jerome Kern, Al Green, Bob Dorough and Joanie Mitchell. There are several Neikrug original contributions, including one co-penned with Hobgood. Drummer Jared Schonig and bassist Matt Clohesy round out the trio that provide the wonderful musical base, above Neikrug absolutely soars. A truly wonderful first act!
