Wings Uncaged, a cool blend of nicely covered standards and the singer’s own well-crafted originals, is yet another outstanding framework for her talent. The set includes tunes by Hoagy Carmichael, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Lionel Hampton, Sonny Burke, Johnny Mercer and Buddy Johnson, among others. The musicians playing here also deliver as well, with François Moulin on bass, Billy Test on piano, Kush Abadey on drums. Additionally, the recording has a fantastic live quality from a sound engineering standpoint. With the quality of her writing and vocals, Allen is a proving a stellar jazz artist with each production.
