Petite Fleur is a beautiful celebration of the historic connection between New Orleans and France. The magnificent collaboration between singer Cyrille Aimée and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra came about as a result of the singer reaching out to the director and drummer Adonis Rose. Aimée, a native of Samois-sur-Seine, France who now lives in the Crescent City, was interested in singing with the outstanding 18-piece band. Her wish and the ensemble’s mutual interest is a gift to jazz lovers’ ears. The recording featuring songs performed in both French and English highlights works by composers from both sides of the Atlantic, including Sidney Bechet, Michel Legrand, Django Reinhardt, and Jelly Roll Morton. Aimée’s impeccable delivery of the vocals in either language is a pleasure to the ears as is the playing of the outstanding musicians of this stellar orchestra. Definitely, one not to be missed.
