Guitarist and composer Greg Chako brings a warm, assured voice to Hard Bop For The Record, a set of ten original compositions rooted in hard bop’s swing and blues feeling. With no piano in the quintet, Chako’s guitar gives the music its harmonic foundation while Brooks Giles on tenor and soprano saxophones and Spencer Merk on trombone give the melodies a bold two-horn sound.
